The emphasis in Trauma informed yoga is on cultivating a greater connection with your inner self. Traumatic experiences are terrifying and often a sense of threat can linger and / or can be re-triggered by a range of different stimuli. Changes in perception and memory can sometimes make it unclear as to what is happening and why you are feeling the way you are feeling or you may feel disconnected from your feelings altogether. You may be struggling with irritability, concentration, relationships, sudden bouts of anger or restless nights. You may be always on the go and a high achiever yet feel an incompleteness, like something is missing. This Yoga class is all about reconnecting aspects of your inner world so that you can feel whole, integrated and complete. Gain a better sense of your moment to moment experience and how to ground yourself. Get better sleep and develop a compassionate care for yourself. Trauma-informed yoga is also a wonderful adjunct to therapy.
Classes will be small and closed (i.e. once the course starts no other participants will join) No hands on adjustments are used in this yoga class, nor does the teacher walk around unpredictably.
